Hello!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog! I find myself with a good chunk of free time this season because my industry is rather slow in the winter. With all this free time that I have, I thought it best I use it wisely and maybe learn a thing or two. Amongst other things, I have decided to teach myself about various electronics. Things like circuits, and how they’re made. How to create my own. Eventually getting into computer programming maybe? Following that train of thought, I also decided to make a blog to follow and track how much I’ve learned, and hopefully teach someone else a thing or two as well. It is also my hope that others will share their experience with me, so that we may more fully understand what we’re getting into here. ¬†Constructive criticism is always welcome! Thanks in advance, and happy learning.

Cheers!

Switches and Relays

Toggle Switch

To start off we will begin with the toggle switch. The toggle switch is used to make electricity choose between two different paths. Beyond that, there are a few types of toggle switches. The main one we will be focusing on is a SPDT, or single pull double throw. This is where a switch can be connected to one of two different points at one time. An example of this would be a light switch.

Component Central

Okay, so we’ve gone over some physics and while there is still a few more things to go over, I thought this would be a good time to go over some different components, what they do, and the symbols used in schematics to identify them.

This is by no means a complete list of every component you will find. It is meant to be a place to start from to help build simple circuits. As we progress to start building larger circuits I will introduce more components as needed.

Getting Into Electronics, and Basic Electricity

Before we begin..

Welcome everyone! In the post today we will be laying a few ground rules for the basis of our learning, as well as going over essential terms, units of measurement, and formula’s.

Most of these posts will be in the form of me trying to explain to the reader how something works. I’m sure I will make mistakes along the way or have an incomplete picture at times, but please do feel free to enlighten me with knowledge. That, after all, is what I am here to do! And hopefully help the readers too!
